AGED 2 YEARS AND 9 MONTHS

Life with Wilson is never dull! He has a wonderful personality and he is such a baby! He is very affectionate and loves attention. He has very bad manners, is impatient and loves jumping all over my new leather suite, and nothing will persuade him otherwise!

He has a great friend in Ruby. They have such fun together - in fact they do everything together! Even when it is bedtime, they snuggle up and most of the time Ruby lies on top of him! He doesn't seem to mind, even though she is rather heavy!

Wilson is tall and athletic looking and is extremely handsome – and he knows it! Sometimes you have to remind yourself that he is actually a dog because he is almost human in many ways!

His favourite past time is teasing the cats, especially Millie, whom he loves to get in a strangle hold and smother her with his weight. She is not scared of him though and gives as good as she gets!

Wilson is not a good eater – he eats to live rather than lives to eat. If there’s food there, he’ll eat it, if not, he doesn’t care. Unless you have got something really nice in your hand, like a chocolate biscuit, then he will come and rest his head on your chest and look up at you as if you are the only person in the world who matters to him…

Wilson loves being with us all and is a big part of the family. He follows us round like a lap dog and can’t bear to be away from us. He loves being cuddled and he is very kissable!

We had started showing Wilson and he wasn't doing too badly, but to do well at showing you need to put alot of hard work, dedication and commitment in, which all need time. Unfortunately due to our work pattern etc we were unable to commit to this.

Wilson has given us so much joy over the last two years and we don’t know what we’d do without him.

Wilson is growing into a fine Springer he has such a good temperament, he is so placid when Ruby is jumping all over him and chewing his ears and yet he is still as playful as when he was a puppy, he does not like to be left out if I /we are talking to Ruby he has to push his nose in just to say I'm here you know. He is now around 17 months old and a wonderful dog, we are hoping Ruby is following his example as she follows him everywhere

His only problem is walking on  the lead he always was a bit of a puller but I may have found the solution .....

It was a match night last Monday (04/06/07) at the ring craft training ,we entered Wilson in the junior section and he got 2nd place ,he was really very good thejudge said that his stacking (standing) and the way he let him look at him was superb !! well done Wilson ..... 

 We reached our 5,000th visitor !!!

there was some controversy as we had three emails that stated they were the 5000th visitor ?

all wanted a Wilson mug !! so to be fair a name was picked out of a hat , the 5000th visitor is deemed to be

.........   Mrs Gwen Maunder from Devon ( a first time visit to Wilsons site )   .........

RUBY WEBSITE IS UP AND RUNNING PLEASE TAKE A LOOK ............. AND SIGN THE BOOK !!

 We collected ruby on  the 23rd May and introduced her to Wilson ,we really didn't have anything to worry about they seem to be best of friends already, she stands up to Wilson when he gets a little to rough and I'm sure she will show him who is the boss when she gets bigger, she seems to be calmer than Wilson was at her age maybe because she is a girl. Her first night went without a hitch, Ruby was in the cage and Wilson in his bed next to her and not a peep all night, not even a puddle in the morning,she went out and releived herself in the garden, what a good little girl.

Here is Ruby the new addition to the Sherriff family she is 6 weeks old and is a liver and white tri English Springer Spaniel we can collect her in around two weeks, we cant wait to introduce her to Wilson !

How wrong can I be, tonight at the Christmas match night he was a laughing stock, he would not stand still ,he would not walk

Wilson has suddenly realised what is meant by "stacking" (standing in the show position). After almost two weeks of intensive training he seems to have grasped it, he will pose and hold his stance !! He just has to do it on the day of the show in the ring!.

He also knows the difference between his show lead and his walking lead and reacts differently depending on which he is wearing, now that he has stopped thinking his show lead is a new toy to chew ,he struts around the garden and turns with me on command . So at last an improvement,  I have just got to get him to move a little quicker without him trying to jump up, Suddenly the show does not seem as daunting for us, we don’t expect to win but at least I don’t think we will be an embarrassment.

I will try to post a photo of him in his stacked position and try to get a video of him walking with his show lead

We had a chat to Helen Merry today (the daughter of George Wright, who bred Wilson) and we told her about the show in Clayton-Le-Woods in January. She suggested that we enter Wilson in Wirral Kennel Association show at Kirkby Sports Centre on 17th December ! We feel that it is too early but, it will give us a better insight so we'll know what to expect in January...So, the entry form is in the post ! Wish us luck ! Any advice, please forward on to us a.s.a.p ! P.S Thanks for your help today, Helen.

We have been advised to enter Wilson in the Clitheroe & District Kennel Association show on Sunday the 14th of January at Clayton-le-woods nr Chorley ! Can we get him up to 'standard' by then ? Any advice or tips on how we can improve his chances will be much appreciated as we are complete novices. We know we have a lot of work to do as we bought him as a pet and not a show dog, therefore he has a lot of catching up to do.

Today Wilson has chewed my mobile phone and taken my daughters textile work and chewed it to bits !! Naughty dog

I think all this fame is going to his head ................................ but we love him ,oh the joys of having a Springer .............

Wilson attended the Wigan & District Canine Society 'match night' and entered in the 'minor puppy class' (6 months to 9 months) - his first time in the ring !  He did very well - came in second place. He needs to work on his walking in the ring because he jumped up a few times - my fault as I had a dog treat in my hand, but it was an excellent result for his first attempt .............. Well done Wilson !! 

Wilson went to see his first dog show today at Kirkby Merseyside , it was interesting to see all the preparation needed before the dogs are shown.Wilson met his brother , Anacapa Whiskey Mac. Whiskey was in the show, I will let you know how he did later.

Wilson went to his second class at Wigan & District Canine Society on Moday 30/10/06 for his training  in 'Ring Craft'.where he was shown the correct way to walk for showing and the Stand position , very interesting we will keep practising and keep you  informed on his progress. They are holding a 'show ' next monday Wilsons first.

Wilson will be going to watch his brother in a show in a few days ,look for the photographs soon
